Our school SENDCo is: Sarah Dearlove

Our SEND Link Governor is: Hannah Burke

Our school is committed to meeting the needs of the pupils in our community, as well as their families. All staff work hard to ensure that needs are identified quickly, and that relevent and purposeful action follows.

Our SLT consider children with SEND in when thinking about staffing arrangements, provisions in school, the curriculum, and allocation of funding.

Our SENDCo has made effecive links with outside agencies to ensure that processes are smooth and consistent, and that our offer is in line with the Kirklees Local Offer (please click the link for more information).

Our teachers make reasonable adjustments in their Quality First Teaching everday so that all children can access the curriculum in the most effective way for them. This sometimes means that children have additional resources in lessons, or that a member of staff is there to support them for a particular subject or task. Teachers take advice and work effectively with outside agencies to support children in their class with a range of needs. Where possible, we always try to ensure that children remain in the classroom with their peers with support given through classroom strategies, however, there are some occasions where children access interventions outside of the classroom or learning within another group. This is always carefully considered in consiltation with external professionals, class teachers and parents.

Our teaching assistants are dedicated members of our school team, and many are experts in specific interventions or classroom approaches.

Our pastoral team are on hand to support children and staff to make our learning environment inclusive and responsive.

Our children are a credit to the school. They have embedded the Scholes Values so that they respect eachother, whilst understanding and celebrating differences. We are proud of our children, and have endless comments on how positive our children in school are. We value the opinions, ideas and preferences of our children, and try to reflect this in the provisions we offer.

Our parents are the primary educators of our children, and so are, of course, the experts. We work closely with our parents to ensure that support and strategies are consistent and well informed.
